IT specialists Neuways are celebrating a double apprentice success as two of their employees pass their courses with flying colours despite extreme pandemic disruption.

Georgia Burdell and Tom Sharratt recently completed their apprenticeships with Derby-based provider, Babington, and have since progressed to become Business Administration Assistant and Technical Support Engineer, respectively.

Both had to navigate the chaos thrown up by the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, with remote working and changes to their courses, in order to successfully qualify.

Neuways Managing Director, Martin Roberts, said: “We are delighted with the progress and performance we have seen from both Georgia and Thomas since they joined us on their apprenticeships. This double apprentice success is a direct result of their talent, tenacity and hard work during a truly challenging time.

“They both overcame the challenges posed by COVID-19 and transitioned successfully to remote working, as well as working hard to finish their courses outside of work. Their success is testament to their tenacity, determination and drive – all qualities we value in our staff, and to see it so evident in people at the beginning of their career is something special.

“We are looking forward to welcoming more apprentices to the business in the future. They are a valuable part of the skills pipeline for us, and we will continue to help support and grow the depth of skills within the local community’s young people.”

Georgia BurdellGeorgia said: “Since starting my apprenticeship at Neuways, I have gained great knowledge and experience in the admin and accounts sector.

“The support that I have had from Neuways through the whole pandemic has been amazing. My training, and support from my mentor, was not affected even though we moved to working from home.

“I enjoy being part of the Neuways family and look forward to my future with them.”

Thomas SharrettTom said: “I’m delighted and fortunate to have such a great team around me who have helped me to develop and pass this apprenticeship.

“I cannot wait to learn more from them all and I am very grateful to my manager, Darren and Neuways for giving me the opportunity to work here – I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time getting to know the team and developing working relationships with our customers.”
